I've had extensive experience exploring Germany!
With my visits to around 13 major cities(Berlin, Munich, Cologne, Frankfurt am Main, Leipzig, Dresden, Mainz, Potsdam, Heidelberg, Koblenz, Bamberg, Weimar ...) a decade ago, I must have gained a deep understanding of the country's culture, lifestyle, and perhaps even the nuances of different regions.
I am considering moving to Germany again or just reminiscing about my travels.
I had always dreamed of living in Europe, and Germany seemed like the perfect destination with its rich history, vibrant culture, and opportunities for higher education.
I spent countless hours researching, learning about different cities, universities, and job opportunities.
I wanted to experience the country fullyโnot just visit, but really understand it.
With my best friend at that time and a heart full of excitement, I landed in Munich, my first airport.
Over the next few weeks, I traveled to around 13 cities across Germany.
Each place offered a unique experience.
In addition to my trip to Germany 10 years ago, I attended and enjoyed the lively atmosphere at the 2018 Oktoberfest in Munich.
I wore a traditional German costume-Dirndle- and drank beer. (+) I bought a new Dirndle in advance. I will definitely wear a new outfit on my next visit to Oktoberfest!
Of course, I invested a lot of time, money, and effort in exploring and studying Germany.
but I know these trips were worth it.
I felt a deep connection to Heidelberg in particular.
The cityโs charm, combined with its academic environment, made it the perfect place for me.
I even wanted to apply to Heidelberg University for my graduate studies.
Back in Korea, I looked back on my journey with gratitude. I had not only seen Germany but had grown as a person.
This experience taught me so much about resilience, curiosity, and the importance of following oneโs dreams.
In fact, I even got a job right away at a German company. All of this felt like destiny.
I think this is just the beginning. Iโm ready for this new chapter in my life.
